Christopher Walken Cast as Captain Hook in NBCs Peter Pan

Its been firmly proven that Christopher Walken has some serious moves. The actor is now set to put those dance skills back to work in the role of Captain Hook in NBCs live musical broadcast of Peter Pan.

Christopher Walken Goes Off the Cuff: The Extended Version

NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt announced the casting news at the Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday, Entertainment Weekly reports. He might really be a song and dance man at heart, Greenblatt said of Walken. Hes fearless as a comedic actor and always comes to play. I guarantee you hes going to bring his own spin to Captain Hook. He might be the first tap-dancing Captain Hook.

Peter Pan Live! Will be executive-produced by Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, who worked with Walken on the 2007 remake of Hairspray. Walken, who began his career with Broadway musicals, was also in the film musical Pennies From Heaven and was most recently found dancing in Clint Eastwoods Jersey Boys film adaptation.

I started my career in musicals, Walken said in a statement, and its wonderful after all this time, at this point in my career, to be in this classic musical I watched as a child and to work with Neil Meron and Craig Zadan again after Hairspray. Its a chance to put on my tap shoes again.

NBCs The Sound of Music, which starred Carrie Underwood as Maria Von Trapp, brought in 22 million viewers last December. Fox announced in April that it was getting into the live musical broadcast game with a production of Grease sometime in 2015, and NBC has also announced plans to produce The Music Man. Peter Pan will air live on December 4th.

It remains to be seen whether the Captain Hook role will involve any of Walkens moves from Fatboy Slims Weapon of Choice video:
