Rush Looks Alive and Vibrant

Peter Travers is waving the green flag to officially kick off the fall movie season, and this week hes highlighting Ron Howards excellent new film, Rush.

See Why We Named Rush One of Falls Best Movies

Set in 1976 and based on a true story, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor) as James Hunt, a British playboy/superstar Formula 1 driver, and Austrian newcomer Daniel Brhl as his rival, Niki Lauda, a no-nonsense, get it done racer. Travers has high praise for both actors performances, but he was especially impressed by the films script, written by Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon).

Ron Howard is kind of working indie, Travers says. Hes out of the studio system, hes working fast, furious and cheap but its nothing like Fast and the Furious, because you believe the racing that youre seeing.

Despite its tiny budget, Travers adds that the film looks alive and vibrant, and lauds everything from the performances to the racing sequences. Drive your way to Rush, he encourages, as he hops behind his trusty green-screen car. Because its opening the fall season, its a surprise and it goes vrooom!
