Luke Cage embraces his super strength and stares down a torrent of bullets in the gritty new trailer for Netflixs upcoming adaptation of the Marvel superhero comic.
Starring Mike Colter in the title role, the Luke Cageclip offers a glimpse at the heros origins in prison, hes subjected to a science experiment that gives him super strength and bulletproof skin and the massacre, ordered by crime boss Cornell Cottonmouth Stokes (Mahershala Ali), that convinces Cage he must use his powers to defend Harlem.
The rest of the trailer is packed with absurdly delightful action shots as Cages war with Stokes rages. Among the highlights are Cage taking a slow-motion punch to the face without flinching, walking headfirst into a hail of gunfire and casually ripping off a car door and using it to bust into an apartment building where he subsequently bats away more bullets.
The first season of Luke Cagepremieres September 30th on Netflix. The show marks the third installment in Marvel and Netflixs Defenders franchise, following Daredeviland Jessica Jones(in which Cage first appeared). An adaptation ofIron Fistis set to hit the streaming service in 2017, followed by TheDefenders, which will feature all four heroes.
