Watch John Oliver Slam Donald Trumps Abortion Comments

John Oliver tore down Donald Trump during a speech at the Center for Reproductive Rights 2016 Gala in New York Tuesday, opening with the cheeky line, Good evening gentlemen and nasty women nasty, nasty, nasty women. Some of the nastiest among us, I imagine.

Along with flipping Trumps uncouth quip about Hillary Clinton during the third presidential debate, Oliver also picked apart the Republican nominees egregious remarks about late-term abortions. [His comments] showed no real understanding of how abortions work, no clear understanding of the basic biology of womens bodies and a very poor sense of grammar as well, Oliver cracked. If you asked Donald Trump to draw a fallopian tube, I cannot imagine what you would get back other than a childs drawing of a cobra.

During his speech, Oliver also praised the Galas honoree, Dawn Porter, whose film Trappedexamines the challenges facing reproductive health. The Last Week Tonighthost noted the continued efforts to restrict access to abortion clinics, pointing out that four states in the U.S. have just one clinic: Mississippi has four times as many Ss as it does abortion clinics, and that cannot be a good thing, he said.

According to Cosmopolitan, Oliver also praised the Supreme Courts recent ruling on unnecessary restrictions imposed on abortion clinics in Texas, which was filed by the Center for Reproductive rights on behalf of several providers and clinics. But the comedian joked lawmakers would continue to try to stymie reproductive health and the fight would continue, like a game of whack-a-mole.

The thing with whack-a-mole is when you hit a mole, another one is coming back up, Oliver said. That is going to happen in Texas, and around the country, and you need to keep whacking.
