Daniel Tosh Wins $25,000 Bet on Patriots to Cover Friends Medical Bills

A few months ago, stand-up comedian Andy Ritchie was diagnosed with a brain tumor. In an effort to help cover his costly medical bills, close friend Daniel Tosh made the most of his celebrity status by promoting a GoFundMe page that quickly racked more than $47,000 in donations. Then, Tosh took matters into his own hands by auctioning off some of the props from his show, Tosh.0, that turned into an extra $25,000.

With Ritchie needing $250,000, however, Tosh didnt stop there. Instead, he did what any reasonable friend would do: Hop on a plane to Las Vegas and bet it all on the Patriots.

Once I double it, he can do whatever he wants with my money, Tosh said on his show earlier this week. Go on a lion-hunting safari or get treatment. His call. Theres no way I would risk his health on a stupid game of chance this time, so Im going straight to the sports book.

With $25,000 in hand, Tosh placed a double-or-nothing bet on the Patriots covering the 3.5-point first half spread of Thursdays game against the Dolphins his way of making a safe bet and holding out hope that his beloved Dolphins would overcome an early deficit. While the Dolphins wound up getting their asses handed to them, the Patriots 19-0 lead at the half meant good news for Ritchie.

Hopefully that money goes a long way in helping Ritchie on his road to recovery.
