In his first-ever release as Benito Martnez, Bad Bunny has teamed up with the Puerto Rican trio Los Rivera Destino for a special Fathers Day track titled Flor.
Directed by Claudia Caldern, the new video sees the Latin trap star in a wholesome new light. Sporting matching red tuxedos, Martnez joins balladeers Carlos Figueroa, Fernando Tarrazo and Antonio Tony Snchez in a saccharine, barbershop quartet routine. Martinez first got in touch with the trio via Instagram, after their 2018, bolero-style cover of Te Bot (Remix) went viral; according to the band, it was Martnez who proposed the new collaboration, and in the same traditional style.
Flor, as the song says, is a dream come true, write Los Rivera Destino to Rolling Stone. [It] started cooking from the first moment we went out to lunch with Benito. Using the phrase de una flor a una flor from a flower to a flower we were looking for a way to add a sensitivity to childrens relationship with fathers. We want to celebrate fatherhood from an honest point of view and with a floral symbol that is usually related to mothers.
Co-produced by Los Rivera Destino and iLe/Calle 13 producer Ismael Cancel, the track recalls the old school stylings of Puerto Rican legends like Cheo Feliciano and Joe Cuba, with the occasional, cheeky aside. We aim to challenge stereotypes of the definition of fatherhood, continue the band. This song highlights all the types of father figures out there celebrating all of those people who occupy this role in a childs life.
