See the Bloody, Funny First Ash vs. Evil Dead Trailer

Ash Williams, the chainsaw-armed protagonist played by actor Bruce Campbell in the first three Evil Dead films, is lookin good by his own estimation (in a leather corset) at the start of a new trailer for the upcoming Starz TV series Ash vs. Evil Dead. Then, like in the cabin in the woods where everything went wrong in the movies, the camera zooms in on his trailer and things start getting gory.

The plot of the series, set to premiere on Halloween, will take place three decades after the events of the first film; as Ash puts it in the trailer, The evil has found me. The clip, which premiered at Comic-Con over the weekend, shows the vigilante ejecting a gun from the floor, blasting peoples heads, stabbing evil Deadites in the neck and generally spilling gallons of blood all over the place. The trailer also shows some of the films trademark tongue-in-cheek horror, such as Williams joking about needing to do some cardio and a possessed doll biting him on the face, as well as multitudes of vile, disgusting creatures.

Ash vs. Evil Dead will play out over 10 half-hour episodes and also feature Lucy Lawless as a mysterious figure who blames Ash for the outbreaks, Ray Santiago as Ashs sidekick. Mimi Rogers, Dana DeLorenzo and Jill Marie Jones are all also set to appear in the series. Sam Raimi, who directed the original movies, will executive produce the show and direct and co-write the first episode. With his chainsaw arm and his boomstick, Ash is back to kick some monster butt, the director promised previously. And brother, this time theres a truckload of it.
