Star Wars Saga Available Digitally for First Time


All six Star Warsfilms will be available for download on digital platforms like iTunes, Amazon, Google Playand Vudu for the first time starting April 10th, The Wall Street Journalreports.

As incentive for fans who already own the two trilogies on DVD and Blu-ray (or for those who have committed the space odyssey to memory), each digital download will come with two new behind-the-scenes featurettes:Discoveries from Inside and Conversations. Conversationswill feature interviews with key Star Wars contributors, while Discoveries examines the design and technical aspects of the films, such as models and miniatures, holograms, weapons and sound.

Each downloadwill also include legacy content, includingdeleted scenes and mini-documentaries such as George Lucas On Editing The Empire Strikes Back 1979andFrom Puppets to Pixels: Digital Characters in Episode II, which will likely appeal to that subsetof Jar Jar Binks fanatics. The digital re-releases arrive as the Star Wars franchise prepares for a busy 2015 that capsoff with J.J. Abrams highly anticipated reboot, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which opens December 18th. The new film will feature cast members from the original trilogy, includingHarrison Ford, Carrie Fisherand Mark Hamill, reprising their roles alongside newcomersAdam Driver, Lupita Nyongo, Max von Sydow, Andy Serkis, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley.
