Flashback: Tracy Morgan Places a Personal Ad on Crank Yankers

Back in 2002, Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel and producer Daniel Kellison had the rather brilliant idea of recreating real-life prank phone calls with puppets. They called the show Crank Yankers and it ran for four incredible seasons on Comedy Central and MTV2, bringing in everyone from Sarah Silverman and Stephen Colbert to Eminem and Snoop Dogg to record prank calls.

Picking the best call is a difficult task, but Tracy Morgans many appearances as the extremely perverted Spoonie Luv definitely deserve consideration. In the first season, he called the Village Voice to place a personal ad seeking a woman with strong legs, strong knees, hair everywhere, a badonkadonk butt, stretch marks and a C-section scar. The Voice didnt agree to run his ad, though in future calls he tried to sell a video store on his own homemade porno and asked a grocery clerk if her peaches were waxed or fuzzy.

The calls were played mostly after Morgan left Saturday Night Live and before he was cast on 30 Rock. The Tina Fey-created sitcom raised Morgans profile considerably and he began playing some of the biggest stand-up gigs of his career, though he was in a devastating accidentwith a truck last summer while coming back from a gig at a Delaware casino. The accident killed comedian James McNair and left Morgan with a traumatic brain injury and several broken bones. Hes rarely been seen in public since the accident and is undergoing rehabilitation.
